Circa 1890.  Elegant, Louis XV style, gilded,  Victorian  china closet/ curio.  This fine 19th century cabinet has everything! Very desirable size and shape, graceful proportions, and elegant detail.  This lovely cabinet features a single, curved door with the original shaped, beveled glass, brass hardware and working lock and key. The sides of the curio also retain its original beveled glass. Beneath the glass on all three sides are panels with beautifully carved, raised decorative designs in gesso. The legs are slightly curved with an acanthus leaf detail, which also runs up the curved extended knees of the cabinet. The entire cabinet is gilded, the gilding on the interior is untouched original bright gold. On the exterior the finish has amber shellac, to preserve the original surface.  Original mirrored back on the entire visible top section, which is finished with gilded rope. There are three original glass shelves, one of which has a small chip and an original wooden back. Over-all very good condition, displays beautifully.  31" widest x 67" tall x 17 1/4" deepest.  Price $2,900.00
