Circa 1850.  Extraordinary large 19th century American crystal ewer in a Grecian Classical Taste. This elegant serving piece is fresh from a Brooklyn, NY brownstone. Very tall and graceful, with a swirled glass body and oversized applied glass handle with a beautifully cut stem and many sided round base. Besides it's striking looks, it is also unique in that it has an opening in it's body directly above the lower part of it's handle that leads to a round glass pocket in the pitcher that I believe is for shaved ice to keep the contents of the ewer cool. Excellent, undamaged original condition.   14 1/2" tall x 6 " base diameter.  Price  $450.
