PAIR OF CAST GILT BRASS CANDELABRA

Fancy pair of cast gilt brass candelabra. Circa 1870-90.This nicely sized set of what were originally meant as mantel piece candelabra, feature  a charming seated Putti (cherub) holding a curved vine that leads to four candle arms, three of which are on one level with the fourth raised up in the center. There are beautiful Classical style motifs used throughout the candelabra, such as swags of flowers and stylized birds. Very nice, detailed, high quality casting, which retains a fine, original antique patina. Though fully detailed on all sides, the four candle arms all face forward so that the candelabra can fit on a narrow shelf. Very fine condition throughout, the only issue being that they have been drilled on the bases for electricity some time in the past, though they are not currently electrified and there is no evidence that they ever were except for the hole in the base.  18" tall x 9" wide x 5 1/2" base diameter.  Price $650.00  for the pair.
