MAJOLICA JARDINIERE & STAND

Extraordinary Majolica Jardinière and Pedestal. Extremely tall and elegant, this "over the top" Majolica jardinière and stand features brilliant colors and a variety of decorative motifs. The central portion is decorated with a large painting depicting nude women in a classical style. Above and below the scenes are a band of stylized leaves in neutral tones with inset oval paintings of a large vase filled with flowers. The large painting is separated from the pedestal by a band of raised and gilded detail. There is also a vertical molding down both sides of the central pedestal that is also carved and gilded. The jardinière  has a painting of two semi-nude women in a pastoral setting. The interior of the jardinière is a brilliant blue. The set is vintage/antique, probably early 20th century. It is fresh from a private home in Rhode Island and is in "as found" condition with minor flaws for its age. There is a small area of missing paint in the large painting (pictured) and a tight hairline (pictured) on the lower dark blue band. These small flaws in no way detract from the over-all impact of this statement piece. Due to its size, weight and fragility, we are not offering shipping. We can deliver for a fee in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) or it can be picked up in Brooklyn, NY. We can also bring it to any local "Pack & Ship" if the buyer prefers.  Over-all height 57.5 " the pedestal is 44.25" tall with a base diameter of 16" and a top diameter of 15". The jardinière is 14" tall with a top diameter of 14".  Price $1200
