FRENCH MAJOLICA PAIR OF PLAQUES

Elegant pair of French Majolica wall plaques, late 19th century with both Art Nouveau and Aesthetic Movement influences as seen in the elegant female nudes and the Asian influenced flora. Blood red round plates with exquisite gilt metal nude figures and leaves that overflow the borders of the plaques. In "as found" antique condition, no damage to the majolica, fine original gilding, alas, not perfect (some loss to the gilt metal) but still stunning. The plaques are 12 3/4" round and the overall size with the metal work is 15 1/4". Un-marked.  Price  $495.00.
