LIMOGES BISCUIT JAR
Circa 1895. Charming, Late Victorian, Limoges, biscuit jar. This lovely piece of 19th century French porcelain is hand decorated by a skilled hand in a soft, pastel palette. There are three, heavily gilded, ornate handles. In between the handles there are three panels with paintings of delicate flowers and leaves framed by a gilded border and light blue trim. The domed lid is a light yellow with a gilt line surrounded by the same soft blue. The knob is in the form of an open flower with a white interior and gold petals. The interior flared lip of the biscuit jar is also a soft yellow. Fine original condition with minor wear to the gold knob. Fully marked on the base, T&V France, for the fine firm Tressemann & Vogt, Mark 5a, under glaze white ware mark and boldly signed by the artist in gold "Bell 1895". 8" tall x 6 1/2" diameter.
