Fine Pair of 19th Century Porcelain Sweet Meat Dishes
Circa 1890. Very fine pair of antique European figural sweet meat dishes. This exquisite small pair of porcelain sweet meat dishes each feature a young women sitting in the middle of two small baskets. She is wearing a hat with turned up brim and floral decoration. She is clad in a charming dress with laced bodice and ruffled sleeves. Her shoes are a bright orange and she is holding a flower in one hand. The baskets are decorated with small sprays of flowers on white porcelain with gold trim. I believe the flowers on the basket are "transfer" and the rest of the decoration hand painting. The bases are marked in blue with what looks like a Y with a diagonal line through it. I do not know this mark but believe it is either 19th century French or German. Both dishes are in exceptional original condition. Fresh from a local Brooklyn, New York estate. 5" wide x 5" tall x 2 1/2" deep. Price $375.00 for the pair.
