FIREPLACE MANTLE COVER

19th CENTURY FIREPLACE MANTEL COVER. Rare, all original mantelpiece cover, fresh from a Brooklyn brownstone. At least 120 years old and in extremely fine original condition, probably one of a kind. It is fashioned from antique rose colored brocade and real gold thread, attached to a gold thread border. It also has two swags of gold thread rope and decorative gold thread appliques and tassels. It fit perfectly on a mid 19th century marble mantle piece in the home. No stains, rips, repairs or any other damage. It has some areas where the border could use some re-tacking (a stitch or two) if desired. It is in such amazing condition I wanted to be able to say "all original" so I have done nothing at all to it. The colors in the photos are accurate. 59" wide x 11 1/2" deep x 11 1/2" long in the center and sloping to 23 1/2" on the end pieces to the bottom of the fringe.   Price $450.00
